How to add a header and footer to a PDF
A company name at the top, a page count at the bottom, "Draft" in the corner: the things a document needs once it leaves the program it was written in.
- Drop the PDF on the box at the top.
- Write in any of the six places: left, middle or right, at the top or the bottom.
- Use {page}, {pages}, {date} and {name} for the page number, the number of pages, the date and the file name.
- Set the size, colour, distance from the edge and the page to start on.
- Check the preview, then press Save the PDF.
What it writes
Real text in a standard font, drawn on top of the page, so it stays searchable. It does draw over anything already in that place, and the preview shows you that before you save.
Good to know
- Can the first page be left bare?
- Yes. Set Start on page to 2.
- Is the PDF uploaded?
- No. Your browser writes the new file.
