How to remove pages from a PDF

Almost every document people are sent has pages nobody needs: a blank sheet the scanner added, two pages of small print, a duplicate of page four because the feeder pulled two at once. Removing them before you pass the document on is politeness as much as tidiness.

1. Drop the PDF on the box at the top.
2. Wait a moment while small pictures of the pages appear. They are drawn one at a time, so a long document fills its grid in front of you.
3. Click a page to tick it. A ticked page is one that goes.
4. Press Remove. What is left saves as a new file, and your original is untouched.

Deleted from the file, not hidden

The pages you tick are genuinely gone from the new document. This is not a view that hides them and not a range of pages marked as not for printing - the page and everything drawn on it is left out when the new file is written.

That is worth saying plainly, because it is the reason people use a tool like this on a document before sending it. If a page held something that should not travel, removing it here removes it.

One thing it cannot do: a blacked out line inside a page you keep is not removal. Text that is covered over is still text underneath. For that, use White out in the editor and check the result, or remove the whole page.

Getting a page back

You cannot, from the new file. The original is still on your computer exactly as it was, because this tool never writes over it - it only saves something new. Keep the original until you have opened the result and looked at it.
